A simple and yummy breakfast treat!  Goes great with warm  maple syrup and no-salt added butter melted on top.  We use our own low sodium Brioche Loaf with Chocolate Swirl to make this French toast, but any brioche recipe prepared without salt can be used.

Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices Brioche
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons no-salt butter

Method

Step 1

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk milk, eggs, vanilla, nutmeg, and nutmeg together until well blended. Transfer to a shallow pan.

Step 2

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a saute pan over medium heat.

Step 3

Place a piece of brioche in the egg mixture. Allow to let it soak for 30-45 seconds, flip over, and repeat on the other side.

Step 4

Place soaked brioche in pan and cook on each side for 4-5 minutes. Repeat with remaining brioche, adding additional butter to the pan as necessary. Sprinkle French toast with powdered sugar to serve.
